The Artista CR3AU Reverse Image Retransfer ID Card printer prints true “over the edge” in amazing colour. No need to purchase pre-printed cards to get that professional over the edge finish, the CR3AU can print this from scratch. The Pigment ink (*Option) resists UV fading, resulting in longer lasting images and crisp, clear lifelike skin tones.
Retransfer printers don't print directly onto the card, the image gets printed onto the reverse side of a clear film, and that film is then thermally transferred onto the cards. Using this process the printhead does not come into contact with the cards.
The printer can apply two layers of retransfer film to the front or front and back of the card. The second layer of retransfer film does not have any printing on it, but it provides extra protection for the card. The second retransfer film layer must be requested when the card is sent to the printer
